I am currently associate professor of English Language and Linguistics at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”. I am a Classics graduate with a PhD in English from the University of Cambridge, UK. My research interests and publications are in the area of English applied linguistics with a strong interest in literary stylistics, language education, English as a lingua franca and English for specific purposes. My research methods include genre, discourse and narrative analysis and their applications to specialised discourse, with an emphasis on literary and legal texts. I am currently researching 19th century law reporting and the history of shorthand in relation to the fictional and non-fictional style of  Charles Dickens.
