The course objective is to provide students with an understanding of the business tourism dynamics and a specific focus on destination marketing and meetings industry's promotion.
At the end of the course, students will have acquired knowledge about the meetings industry sector, events types, promotional organizations in business tourism like Convention Bureaux and Convention and Visitors Bureaux, as well as an overview of Italy as a MICE destination and the new emerging phenomena. Regarding skills, the course aims to provide students with concrete tools to work on projects of destination marketing in business tourism.  
Students will learn information about tourism promotion dynamics in the meetings industry and business tourism sector, through case studies presentations and analysis.
Students will be involved during the lessons through discussion and active participation in the analysis of the case studies. Additional professional tools will be learned thanks to the practical approach of the final project. 
The lessons’ operating method and the final evaluation with a project presentation, will encourage students in learning analysis, research and presentation operational methods. 

Course Program:
Topics related to the business tourism and meetings industry will be presented. Concrete examples and case studies will be explained to facilitate the understanding. 
The discussed topics include the definition of the meeting industry, historical background, main actors, the industry in Italy, the impact and the values; events and their classification, buyers and suppliers analysis and examples; destination marketing, Tourism Boards, DMO and Convention Bureaux and the Italian Convention Bureau case study; other Italian promotional organizations operating in the meetings industry; presentation of the emerging phenomena “destination wedding” and “bleisure”.

Additional information:
The course will take place from the 25th of March 2022 to the 2nd of April 2022. Lessons will be held online on Friday 13-15 in room P22 and on Saturday from 10-13 in room T20.
All the lessons will be recorded and available on the team in Microsoft Teams.
All the slides and the other materials to prepare for the exam will be saved in Teams.
