| Modificato il 08 Apr 2015, 14:14 La lezione di giovedì 9 aprile (sempre in aula C3) ospiterà un interessante seminario dal titolo "An overview on the status of the geospatial industry and future perspectives", il cui relatore sarà il Dr. Fabio Pacifici, Senior Scientist DigitalGlobe, la presenza è fortemente raccomandataAbstract
The commercial remote sensing industry is on the edge of an information revolution, as new satellites are developed that offer increased resolution (either spatial, spectral, or temporal), improved accuracies, and faster access to imagery and derived information. These trends are further aided by technology improvements in processing speeds, cloud computing, delivery mechanisms, and new information extraction techniques that will make the imagery and derived information more economical and accessible. This talk will illustrate the evolution of the geospatial industry for key-aspects of urban remote sensing.
Short biography
Fabio Pacifici received his Ph.D. degree in GeoInformation from Tor Vergata University, Rome, Italy, in 2010. He is a Sr. Staff Scientist at DigitalGlobe, where he has been working since 2009. Between 2005 and 2009, he collaborated as Visiting Scientist with the Department of Aerospace Engineering Sciences, University of Colorado, Boulder. He has been involved in various remote sensing projects commissioned by the European Space Agency. Dr. Pacifici has authored (or co-authored) more than 70 scientific publications including journal papers, book chapters, and peer-reviewed conference proceedings; he is the current Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing eNewsletter and serves as Associate Editor for the IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing (JSTARS). He served as Chair of the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society Data Fusion Technical Committee from 2011 to 2013.
