- Obiettivi: 1 - Iron and the birth of modern structural engineering: The lectures will cover the introduction of iron into building construction in Britain and how this influenced progress in structural engineering. 2 - The structural engineer's contribution to contemporary architecture: The lectures will present a number of case studies of buildings designed by British structural engineers. 3 - The conservation of existing building structures: The lectures will address the philosophical ideas underlying conservation of existing structures, illustrated with some case studies.
