- Prerequisiti: The knowledge of the fundamental elements of general pathology, immunology and physiology will be crucial for the learning path
- Obiettivi: LEARNING OUTCOMES: Purpose of the course is to provide students with tools needed to define the different pathologic conditions in relation to the underlying causes and main pathogenic mechanisms, operating at the cellular, tissue and systemic levels. The knowledge acquired during the course is a prerequisite for a rational approach to biotechnology applications in clinical settings and for the critical evaluation of clinically relevant experimental data. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: At the end of the course, students will acquire the knowledge required to understand the molecular and physiopathological basis of the main diseases affecting the heart, circulatory system, respiratory system, liver, kidney, endocrine system and blood. APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: The course will provide students with the ability to describe pathologic processes at the molecular, cellular, tissue and organ level. Further, il will help in developing skills for the critical evaluation of biomedical issues, in the context of applied biotechnologies. MAKING JUDGEMENTS: The knowledge acquired during the course will provide students with a solid basis for making judgements using either complex or limited information. The ability to evaluate options and provide conclusions will be trained also through the analysis of alternative and innovative approaches for the management of specific pathologic conditions. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: At the end of the course, students will be required to discuss physiopatological issues with clear and appropriate scientific language. A specific aim of the final assessment will be the evaluation of the students communication skills and ability to critically assess problems and present solutions.
