- Prerequisiti: It is advised to have passed, or at least to have attended the following so of the master's degree: 1. Electromagnetic fields
- Obiettivi: LEARNING OUTCOMES: This course aims to provide the basic principles, models, and tools for representing electromagnetic propagation phenomena and describe the most common classes of radiating elements and the whole wireless communication link. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: Students will have understood the principles and the mathematical representation of irradiation, propagation, and reception of electromagnetic waves through antennas. They will also be able to demonstrate that they have acquired the methodologies for digital simulation of the structures studied with electromagnetic Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools. APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: Students will be able to interpret the most common phenomena of electromagnetic propagation in free space and material means. They will also be able to qualitatively and quantitatively evaluate the performances, the potentialities, and the possible critical issues with reference to the performance parameters (gain, impedance matching, size) of radiating elements. Finally, they will be able to apply the electromagnetic solver proposed to the modeling of simple antenna configurations. AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT: Students can integrate the knowledge provided with those found autonomously through access to scientific literature and correctly select the most appropriate analytical and design options to address the proposed problems. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Students will be able to illustrate both the basic themes and the vocational object of the course in a synthetic and analytical way using equations and schemes. LEARNING SKILLS: Students will have acquired the ability to read and understand texts and scientific articles in English for in-depth study of the topics covered. They will also independently extend their knowledge of the subject to issues not directly addressed in the course and connected to the constant technological evolution of wireless systems.
