  • Prerequisiti: Knowledge of fundamental physics (i.e. on mechanics, electrodynamics, quantum mechanics, special relativity).
  • Obiettivi: LEARNING OUTCOMES: The course aims to provide specialized and advanced training on the main electromagnetic processes relevant to Astrophysics, with applications in various research fields. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: Understanding and mastery of the most important theories of modern physics and related experimental problems, which find application in other courses and in research fields. APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: Students need to be able to identify all the essential elements of a complex physical problem and know how to model it, making the necessary approximations and recognizing their limits of validity. MAKING JUDGEMENTS: Students need to be able to do calculations and derive proofs autonomously. Moreover, they need to demonstrate the ability to integrate the acquired competences and assess autonomously their applicability to the different fields of physics, and in particular to Astrophysics. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Students need to be able to clearly and correctly present the topics covered in the course program. They need to be able to discuss without ambiguity the logical steps and the conclusions of the analysis of a problem, or the results of a bibliographic search. LEARNING SKILLS: Students need to be able to search and integrate information present on different sources, like different textbooks and the WEB. It is also required the ability of elaborating and extending the examples and the applications presented in class. Students must be able to tackle new topics through independent study, this aspect is essential for them to continue their studies in a research doctorate or other graduate schools.
