  • Obiettivi: LEARNING OUTCOMES: Awareness about the role of recent technological developments in whole-genome sequencing and advanced analytical tools in defining strategies for preserving the evolutionary potential of wild organisms. The course aims at developing the students ability to interpret and understand the information about demographic histories, adaptation and evolutionary potential which is hidden in the genome-level diversity of natural populations. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: Knowledge of the most important techniques in DNA sequencing and analysis of genomic data and their application to biodiversity conservation strategies. APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: Ability to read and interpret primary scientific literature in conservation genomics. MAKING JUDGEMENTS: Foster ability to independently interpret results of statistical analyses of genomic data from natural populations. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to clearly and appropriately report about results of population genomic analyses on wild populations and their interpretation. LEARNING SKILLS: Ability to find and effectively assimilate new information regarding the contribution of whole-genome sequencing techniques to the definition of conservation strategies.
