Obiettivi: The course aims to provide students with a thorough scientific knowledge to properly address the problems of design, selection and utilization of internal combustion engines and their interaction with the environment as well as to develop innovative solutions . To this aim, students will develop a detailed knowledge of the basic principles of operation of engines and learn simulation and experimental procedures for designing and testing a reciprocating internal combustion engine with its main components. Particular attention is finally dedicated to the development of the latest technology of internal combustion engines designed to overcome the current emissions and efficiency limitations and allow to cope with innovative scenarios for sustainable mobility.
