Obiettivi: The "Database" course is intended to provide students with the knowledge required to design a database and related basic applications. More specifically, in the course will be described in detail the methodologies for the conceptual design of a database and for its subsequent implementation on the most widespread data base management systems. Relational algebra will also be discussed. In addition, some techniques for creating data base management systems will be introduced and the key features of the SQL query language will be illustrated. The student at the end of the course will be able to independently define the conceptual specifications of a database, to design its logical structure, to query the database and to implement a basic application that interact with the database itself.
