Latin Paleography 2023/2024

A Short  History of Latin Script (from VII century B.C. to the introduction of print)

The course aims at introducing students to the history of Latin script, its development and evolution from classical times to the introduction of print and to the methodology that is connected with the subject: how does one read, date and interpret written sources (books, documents, inscriptions) and assess their historical and social meanings. Specimens of the scripts being studied will be available on the teacher’s personal page on Didattica Web. Module A prepares for module B.
