Ethnomusicology A | Docente:

History and definition of Ethnomusicology Methodologies of research in Ethnomusicology and eamples of musical ethnographies. Elements of musical grammar useful to understand the musical repertoires of oral tradition Elements of music anthropology and examples of music functions.

The exam will be an interview on the bibliography and on the works produced by the student during the course. For the evaluation the communication skills, the knowledge and undestanding of the topics, and the capacity to apply knowledge to the analysis of the musical repertoires will be considered.

Folk And Country Music Studies A | Docente:
Giuseppe Giordano The "spaces" of the song in the Popular Music First of all, the most important aspects related to the birth and development of the phenomenon of popular music will be presented. In the second part of the course - through the presentation of specific case studies concerning in particular the national and international context - the reflection will be oriented on the production and circulation processes of the songs, from the work of “cantastorie” (storytellers) in the squares, to diffusion processes on the web. The focus will therefore be on the "spaces" of the song in the produnction of Popular Music.    Material provided by the teacher during the course.
